The scene with the cop in his car begins a bit earlier. How the Predalien killed the crew and brought down the ship is not contained in the Unrated. In the R-Rated we see what happened on board. On the Predator planet one of the hunters receives the emergency call from the crashed spaceship. Then another scene of two Predators in the ship. We see another Predator walking through the ship, followed by a shot of two Facehuggers in liquid-filled jars. Now follow the scenes that were in the R-Rated during the birth of the Chestburster. The Predalien continues to crawl out of its shell. The smaller ships undocks and flies towards the sun and the earth. The small Predator spaceship flies towards earth. The camera zooms in on the dead Predator slower than in the R-Rated, then the Chestburster breaks free. Suddenly the Predalien Chestburster breaks out of the corpse. Back to the dead Predator lying on a bier. The camera zooms in on the killed Predator from the first movie. The Extended Cut shows the Predators mothership while the R-Rated shows a smaller spaceship.

The only possible advantage of the R-Rated is, the movie can be viewed in Widescreen (2.40:1) as well as in Full Screen (1.33:1), which might be convenient for people without a Widescreen television. So the Unrated is clearly superior to the R-Rated. Some plot-holes were fixed and some new splatter effects have been added. The Unrated Version fleshes out the storyline for the Predators as well as the humans. On April 15th the R-Rated as well as the Unrated DVD hit the stores in the USA. However, the movie is much brighter on DVD, which certainly adds to the overall value of the movie.
Whether this could be secret censorship of the MPAA to dim the violence, remains speculation. Another flaw was that the movie had such a high contrast in cinemas, so that scenes playing at night or in badly lighted rooms were hardly recognizable. But thanks to the shaking camera so en vogue these days and cuts almost provoking epileptic seizures, the viewer has a hard time following the shown action at all. Too little blood is not something the movie can be accused of. AvP 2 is an action movie of the newest kind. Here too, we find mediocre actors and a story bound to not win any awards. The sequel is not able to satisfy completely, either. This, at least, had been corrected later by the Unrated Version through the use of CGI blood. The first movie was longingly awaited by the fans, but disappointed many through the outrageous story, the flat characters and for an Alien- and Predator movie way too ungory action. Almost no other species in film business fascinates people more than these two extraterrestrial creatures. Predator - Requiem one of the most longed for sequels hit the cinemas. The people of a small town near the site of the crash can do nothing against the two creatures and have no other option than to fight for their lives.
